The term Bike is used in the game as it is in the real world. Motorbikes are two-wheeled modes of transportation that use Low Grade Fuel as their means of propulsion. They also come in a sidecar format, allowing a single passenger to climb on board.<\/p>\n
The pedal variety of bikes also come in single or rear car-type but instead utilize player calories as their primary source of movement.\u00a0They are substantially slower than their motorized counterparts, and rightfully so.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s important to note how easy to die via a bike crash is, so use them at your own risk.<\/p>\n
How to acquire bikes
\nBikes are a plentiful source of free transportation for those lucky and educated enough to know where to find them. Pedal bikes are non-motorized versions found on just about any major roadway in the temperate and desert biomes. Unfortunately, early indicators and an exhaustive research process have revealed that those living in the winter biome must venture to other zones to find pedal bikes.<\/p>\n
Both motorized bike types have a chance to spawn in the following places at the moment;<\/p>\n
Airfield Hangars
\nSupermarkets
\nGas Stations
\nSatellite Dish
\nMining Outpost
\nWater Treatment Plant
\nJunkyard
\nLarge Power Stations
\nThe spawn rates are conditional on the convar setting per server, and server admins may increase the number of motorbikes and pedal bikes locally.\u00a0For more information, see the latter half of this guide.<\/p>\n
Finally, you might also choose to steal a bike from a nearby neighbor.\u00a0 Because you can\u2019t exactly slap a lock on these transportation modes, anyone may take them at any time.\u00a0There are currently no plans for bike racks.<\/p>\n
Bike functions & controls
\nMany variables go into getting from point A to point B in RUST, and using a bike to achieve these ends is no different.\u00a0Bikes are at their most basic level: a means of potentially transporting players and their loot safer and faster.<\/p>\n
Controlling a bike varies depending on the type being used. Motorized bikes naturally move faster than pedal-type bikes and thus react differently to player interaction.<\/p>\n
W eases the vehicle forward
\nA & D pivot the vehicle to the left or right.\u00a0 These controls may be used while going forward or backward
\nS accelerates the vehicle backward.\u00a0 Use additional caution as there are no effective mirrors to guide yourself by
\nF turns on the Headlights for nighttime driving where applicable
\nSpacebar ejects you from the vehicle
\nX changes seats, where applicable
\nBike repair & decay
\nRepair
\nAny bike, up to the moment that the frame collapses and disappears into the void, can be repaired 30 seconds after it last took damage. This requires using a Hammer and having Metal Fragments in your inventory. Each repair swing will repair up to 53 damage.<\/p>\n
Decay rates
\nGiven that the server you\u2019re playing has default convar values, all bikes should slowly decay outside over the course of 1440 minutes.\u00a0This is the default decay period, which is modifiable through server variables.<\/p>\n
