The long-awaited Jungle biome arrived in RUST with the May 2025 update, bringing a lush yet deadly twist to the familiar beach spawn. The Jungle is classified as both a beach and a\u00a0temperate biome, and this biome now introduces players to an unnerving welcome party of panthers, tigers, and snakes. Every great biome deserves a signature monument; with this one, we have the Jungle Ziggurat.<\/p>\n
This guide provides detailed information about the\u00a0Jungle Ziggurat monument. It enables you to quickly identify basic facts and helps you prepare, access, and successfully run the monument. It also provides insight into the different types of loot, NPCs, and environment variables you may encounter.<\/p>\n
Monument Overview<\/p>\n
Released with the May 2025 Jungle update, the Jungle Ziggurat (JZ) is at the lowest end of difficulty of\u00a0RUST monuments. Aesthetically,\u00a0its\u00a0architectural influences, including Brutalism\u00a0and a focus on concrete and geometric designs,\u00a0blend\u00a0with Mesoamerican temple vibes.\u00a0There seems to be an extra emphasis on its incorporation into its environment, going the extra mile, as seen in monuments like the Arctic Research or\u00a0Abandoned Military Base, to seamlessly blend into its surroundings.<\/p>\n
As a final touch in the lead-up to the May update, a small, additional box was added to this monument, similar to the standard tiny brown boxes found at low-tier monuments but with a green hue, spawning in a few locations.\u00a0This box is the primary method for acquiring the\u00a0Blow Pipe\u00a0and dart types, as well as meds and other low-tier items.<\/p>\n
Preparing for the Jungle Ziggurat Monument
\nThe Jungle Ziggurat could be one of the first \u2018monument\u2019s\u2019 that new players experience, being completely void of hazards such as radiation or\u00a0scientist NPCs, given its proximity to noob starter areas.<\/p>\n
Regardless of gear level or experience, any player can venture into this monument completely naked and loot its limited treasures. It is an excellent monument for acquiring a few early-game provisions. Still, it is typically heavily frequented, especially early in a wipe, because it usually spawns in multiple locations on procedurally generated maps and is relatively quick to loot.<\/p>\n
Because this isn\u2019t a safe zone monument, players should be aware that open-world PVP does take place, and they are just as likely to find a bullet to the back as they are a crate with resources. Jungle Ziggurat has many corners to hide around and angles to attack, so take special care.<\/p>\n

Running the Jungle Ziggurat Monument
\nExterior Areas
\nFront Gated Entrance<\/p>\n
As the most distinguishable of the numerous ground-level entrances, our guide begins with a rather worn-out gated entrance.\u00a0As it\u2019s elevated, there is a broken-down stairway that once led up to the gate, now retrofitted with a wooden ramp with gaps on either side. Players can weasel their way down into these holes, so be alert when approaching. On the platform of equal grade to the gated entrance, up to two barrels and a single low to mid-tier crate can spawn.\u00a0Back down at ground level and to the right of the stairway, there\u2019s a small side entrance.<\/p>\n
Side Entrance<\/p>\n
There is very little of note in this area, but it is still worth knowing about.\u00a0This side entrance provides direct access to the lower portion of the JZ, ideal for grubs hoping to hit and run or have a backup exit if they get cornered inside.\u00a0It leads inside opposite the recycler, with the two main water pools separating them. There is no loot to be had here, but certainly don\u2019t take your eyes off this doorway if you\u2019re recycling here.<\/p>\n
Pipesides 1 & 2<\/p>\n
On either side of the front gate area, there are built-in large pipes that extend up the side of the building and onto the first raised platform, parallel to the front and back doorways.\u00a0A few barrels may spawn here, but not much else is present in the way of loot.\u00a0Scaffolding and other natural structures may be used to boost your way onto a higher platform, or you can take the stone pathing around to either the front or back door.\u00a0It is important to remember that there are numerous entrances and exits to this monument, and that threats may enter at angles you wouldn\u2019t normally expect.<\/p>\n
Back Entrance<\/p>\n
For clarity purposes, we have designated this the back entrance for callouts.\u00a0It is a bit more walled off than the front, with more obstructions to hide behind and climb on top of.\u00a0The stairway leading up to the entrance is in a much better state than that of the front, and there are more direct scaffolding ladders that allow for easy climbing to the top of the monument.\u00a0With regards to loot, there are only one or two spawning barrels out here, with more above and inside.<\/p>\n
Second & Third Levels<\/p>\n
All of the mentions of scaffolding and assorted ladders ultimately lead here, approximately one level higher than both front and back entrances.\u00a0While not separated by much, these are distinct points of interest when visiting this monument, as they are prime locations for camping and ambushing potential visitors.\u00a0Visually, this portion of the monument is little more than an elevated concrete platform with a few ladders, some more scaffolding, and a fascinating tree.\u00a0There are vertically scalable, pyramid-like structures that can be used to reach the top faster or descend without taking damage.<\/p>\n
The Top<\/p>\n
The top of the monument resembles that of a construction site more than a monument, as if work was being done but never finished.\u00a0Being the highest point of the monument, this is ideally where you\u2019d want to be to shoot down onto both the outside and inside of the lootable space. Speaking of loot, there are another 2-3 crates and a few barrels present up and around here, so be on the lookout as they frequently move when looted and respawning.\u00a0Almost like a callback to Link to the Past, there is an entrance at the top center of the pyramid-like structure, which players can use to get right into the middle of the monument core, via a multitude of ladders.<\/p>\n
Interior Areas
\nOne Big Room<\/p>\n
All points lead to this, one large and leaky room that probably hasn\u2019t seen a safety inspector in quite some time.\u00a0What appears to have once been a water treatment facility is now an insurance nightmare, with broken walkways, dangling hazards, and no lifeguard on duty.\u00a0The main chamber has on average 2-3 brown or green crates inside, with an equal amount of barrels for general purpose looting.<\/p>\n
The walls are adorned with electrical panels and aquatic controls that are long since decommissioned.\u00a0There aren\u2019t currently any player-interactable features within the monument to use, with this space acting more as a low-tier quick in-and-out loot repository than an interactive point of interest.\u00a0There are bright, colorful flotation devices attached to either top-tier rail system, though they can\u2019t currently be removed or used by players.<\/p>\n
Giving credit its due, this monument probably has the most OSHA-compliant warning signs of any monument of comparable size.\u00a0The inner walls have U-242 painted, but long since faded, written on them. Roof access takes the shape of a dangling rope ladder just above the water pools.\u00a0Watch your step.<\/p>\n
Recycler Area<\/p>\n
The\u00a0sole Recycler\u00a0is located just below the entrance from the back door, just under the concrete catwalk against a wall.\u00a0Keep a close eye on all directions when using this, as there aren\u2019t many quick ways out if you get surrounded. At the time of writing this guide, a blue barrel was available to spawn inside the recycler itself; however, this feature may be moved before release.<\/p>\n
Pools<\/p>\n
The center focal point and probably original purpose of the building are two parallel pools of water.\u00a0For player purposes, the following conditions apply: you can drink the water without issue, there are no sharks or crocodiles present, but it is 100% fishable.\u00a0That being said, you\u2019re very likely to be shot in the back while fishing here, as with all other non-safe monument types.\u00a0Probably best to loot and scoot.<\/p>\n
