The RUST CZ-721 Missions Guide

RUST CZ-721 Missions Guide (Quests, Locations, Rewards)

The RUST CZ-721 missions are a series of two missions, given by the quest NPC CZ-721. You can find CZ-721 in the Outpost Safe Zone, standing on a corner between the Casino Caboose and the Recyclers. The NPC can be seen waving his Geiger counter around in front of him.

Missions Available:
Outpost Validation
Oil Rig Raid

These missions are intended for a solo player and can be repeated. These missions do not require any special gear or tools in order to get started, which makes them great for a fresh spawn on the server who’s looking for alternate ways to get started. This mission series is also designed to provide you with the tools you’ll need to complete subsequent missions, so there’s no reason not to give them a try.

CZ-721: Outpost Validation Mission

The Outpost Validation mission is 1 of 2 missions given by CZ-721.

How to Start this Mission
Locate the NPC CZ-721 inside the Outpost Safe Zone, between the Lucky Caboose and Recyclers. Interacting with the NPC will bring up a mission dialogue window similar to the vendor UI.

CZ-721 says, “Looking for work subject? I’ve got tasks available.”
You have two options for a response:

Sure, what have you got?
No thanks, I’m pretty busy. [EXIT]
Choose Option 1.

CZ-721 says, “Take a look!”

No further dialogue will take place.
Once you’ve accepted the mission, you’ll hear an audible noise trigger and should notice that a list of mission objectives has appeared in the upper-left corner of the screen, signifying that you’ve started the mission. There will also be a small blue icon on your compass indicating the mission’s direction.

If you abandon the mission before completing it, a timer will prevent you from starting the mission over immediately.

Step 1: Go to the Safe Zone

Once you arrive on-site, the mission steps will update, and you’ll hear an audible sound trigger.

Step 2: Retrieve the Documents (0/1)
Once you arrive at the location marked on your map, look for a small stack of white papers. When you find it, hover your mouse over it, and the option “Open” will appear.

Press the E key to open it. Inside, you will see “Documents” that can be looted into your inventory.

In the example below, the papers are inside the Fishing Village, in the boat area, sitting on a small table.

Upon looting the Documents, your mission steps will update, and you will hear an audible sound trigger.

Step 3: Return to the Scientist
Once you’ve looted the Documents, you now need to make your way back to the Outpost Safe Zone and talk with CZ-721. Once you interact with him, the mission will update, and you will hear another audible sound trigger.

How to Start this Mission

CZ-721 says, “Looking for work subject? I’ve got tasks available.”

CZ-721 says, “I used to work on one of the rigs before they kicked me out for “gross misconduct”, now I have to spend my time here measuring radiation all day. It’s thirsty work, and I left my can of soda on the rig. If you’re headed out there, could you possibly retrieve it for me? I left it somewhere in the CCTV room.

I’ll give you a bonus if you open up the special locked crate they have aboard. I don’t care what you have to do to the crew – screw ’em. To get to the crate you would need some keycards, they took mine but I’m sure you could figure something out.”
You have two options for a response:

OK
Not right now.
Choose Option 1

No further dialogue will take place.
Once you’ve accepted the mission, you’ll hear an audible noise trigger and should notice that a list of mission objectives has appeared in the upper-left corner of the screen, signifying that you’ve started the mission. There will also be a small blue icon on your compass indicating the mission’s direction.

If you abandon the mission before completing it, a timer will prevent you from starting the mission over immediately.

Oil Rig Raid Mission Objectives
Go to the oil rig
Get inside the CCTV room
Retrieve the soda can (0/1)
Optional: Open the locked crate
Return to the mission provider
Step 1: Go to the Oil Rig
Once you accept this mission, a map marker will appear on the game map for this mission. In this example, the mission takes place at the Large Oil Rig, which is heavily defended by NPC scientists.

Simply head to the marked location. Once you arrive on-site, the mission steps will update, and you’ll hear an audible sound trigger.

Step 2: Get Inside the CCTV Room
You will need to enter the CCTV room, located on the 3rd level of the Large Oil Rig. This room is not locked and doesn’t require any access keys. It will take some fighting to make your way up the platforms, unless you piggyback on other players clearing the event.

Once you’re inside the room, you’ll hear an audible sound trigger, and your mission will update.

Step 3: Retrieve the Soda Can (0/1)
The soda can is located on the corner of a desk in the center of the room. When you find it, hover your mouse over it, and the option “Open” will appear. Press the E key to open it.

Inside, you will see a “Mr Spice Can” that can be looted into your inventory. Upon looting it, you’ll hear an audible sound trigger, and your mission will update. From this point, you have the option to head back to CZ-721 at the Outpost or continue on to the locked crate.

Step 4: Optional – Open the Locked Crate
The locked crate is located on level 6, inside a locked room. You will need the Red Keycard to unlock the door and gain access to the hackable locked crate.

Once you reach the crate, press the E key to activate the 15-minute timer. This will initiate a countdown to when the crate can be accessed, and simultaneously activate the Oil Rig event; a Chinook will then drop off a number of trigger-happy Heavy Scientists on the helipad for you to play with.

After the 15-minute period expires, the locked crate will be available. Walk up to it and press the E key again to access the loot. Upon doing this, you’ll hear an audible sound trigger, and your mission will update.

Step 5: Return to the Mission Provider
Once you’ve acquired the Mr Spice Can, you now need to make your way back to the Outpost Safe Zone and talk with CZ-721. Once you interact with him, the mission will update, and you will hear another audible sound trigger.

CZ-721 says, “Thanks for getting me my soda! I hope you gave some of those guys a bad time. Now, back to scanning…”
The mission completion dialogue will appear, and you must now click the green “Completed” button to finish the mission and receive your reward.
