RUST Floating City Monument Guide

Floating City Monument Guide: Everything You Need to Know

The much-anticipated Naval Update arrives in RUST in the February 2025 update, bringing a genuine sense of adventure and exploration back to the game. The Deep Sea event is home to roaming boat patrols, lush islands, Ghost Ships, and a brand new safe zone.

This guide provides detailed information about the Floating City monument. It enables RUST players to identify basic facts quickly and helps them prepare, access, and successfully run the monument. It also provides insight into the different types of loot, NPCs, and environment variables you may encounter.

Monument Overview
Available as a preview on the Staging Branch, this monument will release in the February 2025 Naval Update. The Floating City (FC) is an event-exclusive monument, similar to Cargo Ship, that appears alongside Deep Sea spawning. It is the first safe zone that does not remain in a fixed position on the map.

Aesthetically, the Floating City is the closest thing RUST has ever produced to being a genuine “Pirate” hangout. It is a collection of assorted barges and makeshift floating structures, strung and bound together to create a Waterworld-like superstructure. Accessible only by swimming and boating, this is a genuine vagrant’s paradise. Players cannot access it by flight, and its surroundings will only last for 2 hours.

It is a safe zone and does have turrets, as you’d see in other safe zones like Bandit Camp, Outpost, Ranch, etc. There are practically infinite places to sit down, obtain comfort, and explore on this series of barges. This guide can’t cover everything, so we’ll stick to the highlights.

Because the Floating City monument is aquatic, it is a wonderful place to sit and fish. Given its procedurally generated nature, it is essential to note that little nuances might exist from one spawn to the next, especially as relates to the appearance of Floating City’s NPC vendors. Their general location should remain unchanged, but their appearance can vary.

Preparing for the Floating City Monument
The Floating City isn’t exactly a walk in the park to reach; players can’t fly to it, drive to it, or walk to it. Accessing it requires a boat or other naval approach, or even swimming. Once inside the Deep Sea zone, you have to wade through hostile Patrol Boats and other players to get a glimpse of it.

Because of the fog of war being turned on by default, you won’t know where it is. While this is a safe zone once reached, there isn’t much safe about the journey, so make sure you’re wearing your best armor and consider bringing your swimming gear.

Running the Floating City Monument
Farm Barge

You read that right, there is a pay-to-enter community farm.  It starts growing food the moment the Deep Sea event begins, and is just about at maximum capacity and ready to be harvested 25 minutes before the Deep Sea closes. Players wishing to go home with a boatload of food (literally) may head to either farm entrance and pay their way in, assuming someone else hasn’t beaten them to it.

These numbers are subject to the genetics of the plants that grow, as with Waterwell vendors. Players can go in early before crossbreeding to get unadulterated genetic clones if they wish, or wait for them to grow and clone them at any point.

Players may also fill Water Jugs at any of the receptacles inside and clear picked produce stalks for plant fibers. Random trees are growing around the plants, but since it’s a safe zone and we assume you can’t harvest them anyway, it’s probably best to leave them alone.

Aside from the second-story farm, there is also a safe zone Recycler on the first floor for your convenience. Nearby, players may also use a public, functioning Work Bench Level 1 and interact with a Farming Supplies Vendor.

Food Barge

Players can easily identify the Food Barge by looking for a green shipping container with “FOOD” painted in white across its top. There is a vendor below this container that sells an assortment of food, seeds, water, and more, just like the Bandit Camp vendor.

There is a nice seating area out front with a Boom Box available. The picnic tables are functional; we checked, and each has its own ashtray. In the rear area of the barge, at a raised level and accessible by a wooden ladder, is another safe zone Recycler.

Medical Barge

The Medical Barge can be identified by the large tarped structure on the second level, with the word “Medical” painted in white at both entrances.

With two primary points of interest, the Medical Barge offers two vendors: one is the best vendor you’ll ever find in a safe zone and is the equivalent of the Water Well vendors back on the mainland. This vendor provides a limited stock of random, non-taxed tools, medical supplies, and equipment.

The second vendor offers an array of diving equipment that will undoubtedly come in handy during your visit to the Deep Sea zone.

Supplies, Firearms, and Boats Barge

Not last, not first, but certainly important, the Supplies, Firearms, and Boats Barge, located opposite the Farm Barge, has a bit of everything. In the outer dock area, a very nice NPC will sell you either a Rowboat or an RHIB, located right beside a vending machine that will buy your fresh catches.

Just down the dock is another functioning Work Bench Tier 1. One level up, we have the clothing vendor, visible from another safe zone Recycler.  One of our favorite parts of the whole monument is the firearms vendor, identical to Bandit Camp. This is an entertaining room to look around in, despite a lot of the apparent wares not being for sale.

Across the way above the Recycler, near some open scaffolding and a sort of half platform, you will find the only Research Table in the whole event.

Utilities and Homegoods Barge

Though not really labeled, the last barge section before we reach the gambling epicenter is home to two unique utilities and a vendor. First, we have a public oil refinery in case you run low on Low Grade Fuel, as well as a repair bench. In the center cubby section is the Outpost vending machine stand, operated by the vendor, which sells Auto Turrets, SAM Sites, and the like.

Deep Deck Casino
The advertising for this one is really on the outside: Poker, Arcade, Slots, and so much more. Before we get into the bells and whistles, you’ll find the only Mission giver of the event on the outer bottom platform, sending players off to kill pesky patrol scientists.

We will take a look at each aspect of this gambling house, including its handicap-accessible parking.

Deep Deck Casino Docks

While a bit underwhelming, every establishment needs a parking lot for its clientele. Sparing considerable expense, the owners of the Deep Deck Casino docks went with tried-and-true combinations of inflatable plastic jugs, a few wooden planks, and floating safety cones. Chains and questionable adhesive hold the whole thing together.

Because there are no tethers available, players should be sure their vehicles are secured before docking here, as other players might be able to jump on and pull away with your ride while you’re hitting the slots.

Deep Deck Casino Entrance

Aside from the smell, the first thing that should really hit players when approaching this pinnacle of debauchery is the lack of expense that the proprietors put into the welcome mat. Literally, those rugs really tie the room together, man. The custom welcome signs and the overuse of neon lights really sell the cheap-hotel-and-casino vibe the developers were going for, especially at night.

As we walk up the OSHA-approved stairs and approach the elevator, one wonders why the in-game music for this area isn’t more fitting for the Vegas theme.

Call down the elevator using the handy-dandy buttons on your left-hand side and get ready for a night you’ll never remember. We exit out onto more groovy rugs, straight out of your grandma’s house. All this brings us immediately to the live-band-less area and the swimming lounge.

Deep Deck Casino Jazzhall and Pool

When you thought it couldn’t get any more luxurious, feel free to use this area to take a dip or try your hand at the piano. With ample seating and absolutely no electrical hazards, the relaxation opportunities are virtually unlimited.

It’s probably best that you not drink from the Swimming Pool, if you know what’s good for you. You can always crash on the couch if you’re feeling a bit worn out from getting here.

Deep Deck Casino Slots and Disco

Just around the way on this same level, you will find two separate yet connected game of chance areas.  Try your hand at a bit of poker with other players, or hit our absolutely not rigged slot machines for your chance at guaranteed fortune.

If you’re short on coin, we have several semi-functioning Chippy Arcade Game machines begging for new high scores, as well as a working 1987 Boom Box that can play all your favorite tunes. And before you retire to the bar upstairs, won’t you dance the night away under our shimmering disco light?

Deep Deck Casino Bar and Lounge

Nothing brings a successful end to the night together like alcohol and The Wheel. While the barman doesn’t seem to want to give anything up at the moment, we’re assured that this is just a minor oversight, and there should be plenty of brew on tap by the time people start showing up for real.

And if you happen to find yourself in front of the wheel on a couch late at night and are wondering what that smell is, it’s probably just the large fish hanging on the wall behind you. Little Pete swore his cousin was an expert in taxidermy, and at this point, I am too afraid to ask for my money back.
